SEEDCAMP for peer review was organized on 3-4.11.2025 by UBBSLA
After series of on-site meetings for mentoring in preservation of vegetable PGR, a seed camp for peer review was organized on 3rd – 4th November 2025 by the Union of Bulgarian Black Sea Local Authorities. The event was organized as a platform for free expression of opinion by the members of the CSC established for the region of Varna, as part of the SEEDGUARD activities. The purpose was to create an opportunity for them to discuss and share views on how to organize the functionality of the CSC, what format it should take, how to govern it, how will responsibilities be shared, who will take care for organizational matters, volunteering for exploring old varieties, etc.
The participants met on-site in the private property of a vegetable and seed producer guided by their dedication to traditional vegetables. The factors considered through behind the discussions were connected with the availability of good-quality and healthy seed, the presence of formal outlets for local landraces, the sufficient seed production for community demand and most of all protecting the local identity and heritage.
